Pantry Challenge: Introduction

I love setting myself challenges, I am not very competitive with anyone else except myself. This challenge was a mixture of me being lazy and me wanting to save some money. But it is more about me being lazy, I have to walk for about 15 minutes to get to the closes grocery store. It isn't that far, but I cannot be bothered to do it too often and especially not during my finals.

What I decided was to see how long I could sustain from the point where I looked into my fridge and decided I needed to go food shopping (Sunday) to the time I went food shopping. I definitely want it to last from Monday until Saturday, since on my walk home from volunteering I will pass a grocery store. So I will have gone 2 weeks without grocery shopping.

My rules for this challenge are:
  • Do not go to the corner store to buy anything (yes that includes candy).
  • Only eat ONCE in the university cafeteria, and get whatever I want. (Preferably this won't happen, but since I have an 3 hour written exam on Friday I might need something extra to survive that).
  • Do not go to the bakery before volunteering.
  • And last but not least, do not go to the grocery store.
The first thing I did was assessing the food situation. None of the items I had were full, and most of them were pretty much empty (except for the sugar, I have way too much sugar).

So, what is hiding in your pantry and how long would it sustain you?

15 Goals for 2015: 100 Day Update

Today is the 100th day of the year, and isn't that just a great day to start blogging again? I think it is. Ignore the facts that finals are on their way and I should be writing some essays!

I wanted to do an update on how the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year are going. I might even start doing more regular update on these!

Instead of writing about the things I haven't accomplished I wanted to write about the things that I have accomplished, or I am working on. If you want to read all the goals you can just click here.

4. Watch movies from A-Z
I've watched quite a lot of films this year (thank you Netflix). I had to watch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Bram Stoker's Dracula and Blade II for a Vampire class I am taking. I am still counting them as films I have watched this year but I think I am going to choose The Big Lebowski as the film I chose for the letter B. I am only counting films that I am watching for the first time.
B
The Big Lebowski (1998) - hilarious! HILARIOUS! I can totally understand why this is such a classic film.
Blade II (2002) - I don´t really know what I can say about this film. I think the homo-eroticism of it just pushed everything else away. I didn't like it at all, the graphics were horrendous and it had too many plot holes.
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) - again, another really bad film, maybe they just don't age well. But the fake accents were horrible and the film wasn't very faithful to the novel, which bugged me since I was reading the novel around the same time.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) - such a bad film! It is the predecessor to the Buffy franchise and written by Joss Whedon but it is just horribly bad. The script is so cliche, the acting horrible and the vampire concept too fake.
E
Enough Said (2013) - I liked it, but I am an avid fan of Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I found it to be a really good romantic comedy. It didn't really fall into many of the pitfalls of romantic comedies and it was just a really good movie. I liked the script and of course the actors in it.
L
The Lifeguard (2013) - this movie was disturbing on so many different levels and I think the message from the movie isn't easily accessible and it just confuses people. It has the premise of a regular romantic comedy but the fact that the woman is almost 30 years old and her love interest is still in high school should show the audience that this isn't a romantic comedy but a drama.
Z
Zoolander (2001) - I thought this was quite a funny film. I don't really have anything to say about it, it made me laugh and that was it.

8. Finish writing a novel
I wanted to have this in my list today because even though I haven't finished writing a novel I wrote a short story. I started it, wrote it and finished it. For me that was such a big deal, I can't remember when I last time finished a fictional piece of work (compared to the essays I keep on hammering out) and it felt great. This semester I have been enrolled in a creative writing class and I feel like I have really grown as a writer.

12. Post a picture on Instagram every day.
I am shocked to say that I have managed to do this amazingly, some days are harder then others. Mostly since I spend all my days studying there isn't really anything picture worthy around! You can check out my Instagram account here and hopefully when finals are over there will be something interesting on there.

14. Lose 15 kg (33 lbs).
Last time I weighed myself I had lost 3 kg (6.6 lbs). Since then I have been to the doctor to get my blood checked and there we realized that my hypothyroidism had reached the level of me needing medication. I am quite interested in seeing what the medication will do in consideration with my weight. I have already noticed a huge different with other life aspects.

15. Close Caption all my YouTube videos.
This is slowly happening, I finished writing subtitles for 2 of my videos (of 79). I am trying to trick my boyfriend into helping me, it strangely takes a lot of time transcribing my videos. I think this summer I might be able to do one a day (or every other day) and when I've done all my old videos I can easily transcribe my new videos as soon as I upload them.

That is it for today! I have planned some other blogposts that I want to write so hopefully I will find the love for blogging again!

Bisous.
