Perfume Challenge Update #5

I've decided to write this posts a little bit different, I just want them to flow better and not having to remember to ask Mr. Handsome to smell me and trying to remember how long the perfume lasted! So, from now on I will only post the fragrance notes (because that is something I find interesting) and if I would like to buy the perfume!

From left to right: Chanel - Change, Lancôme - Trésor Midnight Rose, DKNY - Pure, Givenchy - Very Irrésistable,Issey Miyake - L'eau d'Issey

Givenchy - Very Irrésistable
Fragrance notes: Centifolia Rose, Peony Rose, Fantasia Rose, Passion Rose, Emotion Rose, Verbena Leaf, Star Anise.

Buying: No, I didn't really like it.

Chanel - Chance
Fragrance notes:  Hyacinth, White Musk and Pink Pepper, Fresh Vetiver and Iris, Amber, Patchouli.

Buying: No, it smelled too much like detergent.

Issey Miyake - L'eau d'Issey
Fragrance notes: Lotus, Freesia, Cyclamen, Rose Water, Fresh Peonies, Carnation, White Lilies, Precious Woods, Osmanthus, Tuberose, amberseed, musk.

Buying: No, didn't like it at all.

Lancôme - Trésor Midnight Rose

Fragrance notes: Raspberry, rose absolute, jasmine, peony, currant buds, pink pepper, Virginian cedar, musk, vanilla

Buying: No, horrible.

DKNY- Pure
Fragrance notes:Vanilla, Dew-Drop Petal, Lotus Flower, Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Freesia, Lush Orchid, White Amber, Creamy Sandalwood.

Buying: Don't know, I think it smells amazing but I am not really sure since it might smell to much like vanilla for Mr. Handsome.

Paco Rabanne - Lady Million
Van Cleef & Arpels - First
Lancôme - Trésor In Love
Paco Rabanne - Black XS

Perfume Challenge Update #4

From left to right: Jil Sanders - Style Soft, Estée Lauder  - Pleasure, La Prairie - Life Threads: Ruby, Moschino - Toujours Glamour, Lolita Lempicka - Si Lolita

Moschino - Toujours Glamour
Fragrance notes: Red berries, Violet leaves, Cardamom, Jasmine, Muguet, Bitter almond, Benzoin, Heliotrope, Musk

Duration: shockingly bad, it couldn't have lasted more than an hour!

Me: It was alright but it was missing that special something that makes perfumes good!

Verdict: Not buying it

Estée Lauder  - Pleasure
Me: Horrible, I actually gagged when I smelled this perfume on me!
Verdict: Not buying it.

La Prairie - Life Threads: Ruby
Fragrance notes: Bergamot, Lily of the valley, Orange blossom, Jasmine, Rose, Saffron, Ylang ylang, Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Vetiver

Durability: Strangely good! Lasted throughout the day!

Mr. Handsome: liked it
Me: I think I liked it, I really would like another sample of this because I am about 75% sure I like it
Verdict: I want to say yes because it did smell nice but I think I will say probably and see if I can find another sample or spray some on me in the store and make sure I love it.

Jil Sanders - Style Soft
Mr. Handsome: Liked it
Me: It was okay, not sweet enough for me.

Lolita Lempicka - Si Lolita
Fragrance notes: Pink peppercorn, Bergamot, Mandarin, Wallflower, Sweet pea, Heliotrope, Elemi gum, Amber, Patchouli, Tonka bean

Me: it smelled quite spicy, I felt like a spice cake.

Verdict: Not buying it.

This weeks reviews is somehow filled with nothing, the problem was that many of the samples had to little of perfume in them for me to establish things as durability and to make Mr. Handsome smell me.

My next week perfumes are:
Givenchy - Very Irrésistable
Chanel - Chance
Issey Miyake - L'eau d'Issey
Lancôme - Trésor Midnight Rose
DKNY- Pure

Perfume Challenge Update #3

So here is the verdict to the third week of my perfume challenge, it is strangely hard to try new perfumes everyday. For me perfumes have so much to do with daily things like mood and how I feel, so whenever I have a bad smelling perfume on or even one that I just find bland I hate it! I don't like not smelling like I love smelling! But back to the perfume samples!

Dior - J'adore
Fragrance notes: tangy mandarin, ivy leaves, champaca flower, red orchids, white roses, violets, Damascus plum, amaranth wood and blackberry musk.

Durability: Very good.

Mr. Handsome: Loves it.
Me: It's fine.
Verdict: This one is a bit tricky, it is apparently the perfume of an ex-girlfriend of a friend of mine. I do like it a lot and I am thinking about buying it.

Lancôme - Trésor in Love
Fragrance notes: pear, musks, bergamot, rose, nectarine, pink pepper, violet, jasmine, cedar, peach

Durability: Not that good

Mr. Handsome: Bland
Me: Bland
Verdict: Won't buy it

Van Cleef Arpels - Oriens
Fragrance notes: Jasmine, Patchouli, Raspberry, Blackcurrant, Amber, Vanilla

Durability: decent

Mr Handsome: it has vanilla
Me: Don't like it, smells bad.
Verdict: Won't buy it.

Chloé  - Love, Chloé
Fragrance notes: Orange Blossom, Pink Pepper, Iris, Lilac, Hyacinth, Wisteria Blossom, Powdery Musks, Talc, Rice Powder.

Durability: Not that good

Mr. Handsome: Mehh
Me: Mehh.
Verdict: Won't buy it

YSL - Parisienne
Fragrance notes:  blackberry, violet, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, cranberry, peony, musk, damask rose

Durability: Not that good

Mr. Handsome: Meh
Me: Don't like it
Verdict: Won't buy it

The perfumes which I chose for the last week were just horrible bland, the only one that I could imagine myself wear daily would be the J'adore from Dior, I do have a bigger sample of that somewhere and I think I will use it after the challenge!

My next week perfumes are:
 Moschino - Toujours Glamour
Estée Lauder  - Pleasure
La Prairie - Life Threads Ruby
Jil Sanders - Style Soft
Lolita Lempicka - Si Lolita

Perfume Challenge Update #2

This week my perfume challenge was a total bust, or maybe a success, it is hard to determine. I did find most of this week perfumes just horrible! The two that stood up were Eau D'Énergie by Biotherm and Acqua di Gioia by Giorgio Armani. The first problem I had with the others is that they were just too heavy and I don't like heavy perfumes, some had vanilla in them and some just smelled bad! I have had this post all written up for a week but I was having hard time with taking the pictures!

Guerlain - Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau
Fragrance notes: Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Neroli, Damascena rose, Jasmine, Iris, Vanilla, Tonka bean

Durability: It had decent durability, nothing special but not a vanishing act.

Mr. Handsome: Liked it.
Me: Didn't like it the first time I had it on but it kinda grew on me, I do feel it is a bit heavy.
Verdict: I am not 100% sold on this one, I think I am about 45% sold on it. So it will go into the won't buy pile.

Giorgio Armani -   Acqua di Gioia
Fragrance notes: Mint, Brown Sugar, Lemon, Jasmine, Peony, Pink Pepper, Cedar Wood, Labdanum.

Durability: Doesn't last at all. I would have to re-spray it almost every twenty minutes!

Mr. Handsome: It's alright.
Me: Yes, I love it, it smells super fresh and light with enough sweetness without smelling like a lollipop
Verdict: I am really on the edge of this one, the only  problem I have with it is how little it lasts on the skin! I hate carrying perfume bottles with me because I have broken 3 cameras that way! To conclude, I think it will go on my not buying list.

*No picture, probably threw away the sample before I took one*
Biotherm - Eau D'Énergie
Fragrance notes: orange, mandarin, physalis, lemon, apricots, jasmine, cyclamen, cedar and musk.

Durability: Bad, I would always have to carry it with me if I wanted to be able to smell it.

Mr. Handsome: It is alright
Me: Meh, 2 minutes after I spray it on it doesn't really smell like anything except for musk and I don't like musk.
Verdict: Won't buy it.

Estée Lauder - Sensuous
Fragrance notes: Ghost Lily Accord, Magnolia, Jasmine, Molten Woods, Amber, Black Pepper, Mandarin Pulp, Honey

Durability: Good durability, smelled it on me all day and night and wanted to cry every time since it smelled bad.

Mr. Handsome: He really didn't have any opinion on it.
Me: I don't like how it smells, it somehow smells stale and old. It feels just to heavy and I like more of fresh and sweet perfumes.
Verdict: Won't buy it

La Prairie - Silver Rain
Fragrance notes: Apple, Anise, Bergamot, Gardenia, Mahnolia, Jasmine, Patchouli leaves, Vanilla, Musk

Durability: Lasted for a decent amount of time.

Mr. Handsome: No, didn't like it all and it gave him a headache.
Me: No, it did smell quite vile.
Verdict: Won't buy it.

I didn't really finish the samples this week, the perfumes were just so uninteresting and some of the I couldn't even force myself to wear again!

My next week perfumes are:

Dior - J'adore
Lancôme - Trésor
Van Cleef & Arpels - Oriens
Chloé  - Love, Chloé
YSL - Parisienne

Perfume Challenge Update #1

Last Wednesday I started my Perfume Challenge, it was a mission to use up my perfume samples and to find perfumes that I like!

There are two opinions that I take into consideration about these perfumes and that is do I like them and does Mr. Handsome my taller and tanner half like them. I don't want to wear a perfume that he really doesn't like and I definitely won't wear one that I really don't like.

I will judge the perfumes by if I like them, if Mr. Handsome likes them and their durability.

Guerlain - Insolence
Fragrance notes:  violet, raspberry, red fruit pulp, rose, orange blossom, iris, tonka bean, musk and sandalwood

Durability: It lasted throughout the day but I felt it might need a top up around lunch time.

Mr. Handsome: Meh
Me: Meh, it smells good but it just doesn't have that special something that I want in perfumes, it is somehow too bland. It does grow on me, when I had it on again later during the week I did like it.
Verdict: Will not buy it

Mariah Carey - M

Fragrance notes: marshmallow, tiare flower, wet gardenia petals, sheet amber, infused with spicy, woody accents of Moroccan incense.

Durability: Medium. It lasted for about 3-4 hours.

Mr. Handsome: Yes
Me: Almost, it smells quite nice but it isn't a perfume that I would like to wear everyday!
Verdict: Don't think I will buy it. I am on the edge on this one.

Hermès - Un Jardin Sur Le Toit
Fragrance notes: green grass, apple, pear, rosemary, magnolia, rose, compost.

Durability: I could smell it on my skin for 5-6 hours, horrendous hours.

Mr. Handsome: Didn't even ask him to smell me with this crap on.
Me: Hell NO, it smells like toilet cleaner! Disgusting. No wonder they describe it smelling like Paris because Paris smells like piss!

Dior - Hypnotic Poison
Fragrance notes: Bitter Almond, Caraway Spice, Sambac Jasmine, Cinnamon, Tuberose, Vanilla, Musk, Mosses, Jucarunda Wood.

Durability: Amazing! Lasted the entire day and into the evening.

Mr. Handsome - "meh, smells to much like candy" (direct quote), he as well asked if there was vanilla in it (hates the smell of vanilla).
Me. Yes
Verdict:I like it a lot but I don't plan on buying a bottle since it does have vanilla in it.

DSQUARED² - She Wood
Fragrance notes: violet leaf, jasmine petals, lemon, violet blossom, cedar wood, heliotrope, musk, vetiver, vegetal amber, neroli bigarade.

Durability: Sprayed decent amount on around 10 AM and by 12 AM I couldn't smell it on me anymore.

Mr. Handsome: Yes.
Me: No, it was to unisex for me and didn't last long enough.
Verdict: Will not buy it

The general verdict for this week is that none of these perfumes are going on my wishlist! I did finish all the samples except Hermès - Un Jardin Sur Le Toit because it made me nauseous and gave me a headache!

My next week perfumes are:

Guerlain - Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau
Giorgio Armani -  Acqua di Gioia
Biotherm - Eau D'Énergie
Estée Lauder - Sensuous
La Prairie - Silver Rain

Perfume Challenge

Are you sick of all the challenges that I am trying to accomplish? I just feel that when I challenge myself it is more likely I will succeed!

I have way way too many perfume samples! So as a part of my 100 Days of Decluttering I have decided to go through my perfume samples and decide on which perfumes I like (and might buy in the future) and which I don't like (and won't ever buy). I think I have about seventy samples, and if I use five a week it will take me fourteen weeks just to test them all!

Every week I plan on using five samples and hopefully I will find some that I will love!

This week the samples that I will be using are:

Guerlain - Insolence
Mariah Carey - M
Hermès - Un Jardin Sur Le Toit
Dior - Hypnotic Poison
DSQUARED² - She Wood

Next Wednesday I will post about my thoughts about these perfumes and post my next five contestants!
